CMA CGM Implements Peak Season Surcharge from South China and Hong Kong

To meet market demand and maintain service quality, CMA CGM has announced the rollout of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS). This new regulation will apply to cargo departing from South China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Macau, officially coming into effect on May 21, 2026.

Surcharge Details by Destination Port

According to the notice from CMA CGM, this PSS will cover all types of cargo (unless specific exceptions apply). The surcharge levels applied by the carrier vary based on the specific destination within Africa, detailed as follows:

●    To Mombasa, Kenya: The applicable surcharge is $300/TEU.

●    To Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania: The applicable surcharge is $200/TEU.

●    To Beira, Mozambique: The applicable surcharge is $300/TEU.

●    To Maputo and Nacala, Mozambique: A lower surcharge applies, set at $100/TEU.

●    To Tamatave, Madagascar: The applicable surcharge is $400 per 40-foot container (note: this fee applies exclusively to 40-foot units).
