Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation orders to build 6 tankers running on methanol
Source: Cosco Shipping
Three 114,200 dwt methanol-powered Aframax tankers will be built at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry's shipyard in Yangzhou. With a length of 248.8 meters and a width of 44 meters, these are the shipping company's first dual methanol fuel vessel orders.
A pair of methanol-ready 64,900 dwt Panamax tankers and a 50,000 dwt MR tanker will be built at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry's shipyard in Dalian.
"To promote green and low-carbon energy-powered vessel development and improve competitiveness, the company is upgrading fleet via the investment in methanol-fuelled vessel, an exploration and practice on clean energy vessel market," Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation said.
Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation operates the world's largest fleet of oil tankers. As of the end of the first half of 2023, the company owned 154 tankers, with a total capacity of 22.42 million dwt.
