Port of Valencia increases container throughput by 11.65% in the first 6 months of 2021
The growth rate of shipping activity of the Port of Valencia shows a very positive trend compared to 2019 - the last year that has not been affected by the pandemic.

The Port of Valencia The Port of Valencia handled a total of 2.83 million TEUs in the first half of 2021, an increase of 11.65% year-on-year; and 3.34% more than in 2019. Containerised exports increased by 27% and imports increased by 16%; and transshipment increased by 4.4% over the same period in 2020.
Ro-ro traffic was 6,314,320 units, 16.85% more than in 2020 but 7% down compared to 2019.
Particularly in June 2021, the total cargo traffic increased by 11.11% compared to 2019 and 20.6% compared to June 2020. Containerized cargo increased by 11.33% compared to 2019 and 23.2% compared to the pandemic in June 2020. These data show that shipping capacity in Spain and the world economy has begun to recover and grow after a year of health and economic crisis.
Exported goods transported by containers increased by 17% compared to the same month of 2019 and 35% compared to 2020. In both June and the total of the first 6 months of the year, all manufacturing industries recorded positive numbers, especially in strategic industries such as building materials, agri-food and automobiles.
The countries with the highest growth in cargo container volume in the first 6 months of 2021 compared to the same period last year are: Italy (58%), Morocco (54%) and India (49%).
