Sea-Intelligence: Global Schedule Reliability Falls to Lowest Level Since 2022

Sea-Intelligence has released the 181st edition of its Global Liner Performance (GLP) Report, providing an update on the schedule reliability of container shipping lines in August 2026.

Global schedule reliability falls to 49.9%

Against a backdrop of worsening port congestion in Asia, global schedule reliability continued to deteriorate in August, marking the second consecutive month of decline.

According to Sea-Intelligence, the index fell by 5.9 percentage points from the previous month to 49.9%. This was the lowest level since September 2022.

At the same time, the average delay for late vessel arrivals also increased. The figure rose by 0.60 days from July to 6.81 days in August, the highest level since March 2022. Compared with the same month in 2025, average delays increased by a further 1.92 days.

Maersk maintains the highest schedule reliability

Among the 13 container shipping lines analyzed by Sea-Intelligence, Maersk recorded the highest schedule reliability in August at 67.3%, followed by Hapag-Lloyd at 61.5%.

MSC and CMA CGM recorded 55.2% and 50.6%, respectively. They were the only two other carriers with schedule reliability above 50%.

At the other end of the scale, Wan Hai recorded the lowest schedule reliability among the group, at 23.2%.

Compared with the previous month, none of the Top 13 carriers recorded an improvement in schedule reliability. ONE posted the smallest decline, at 3.5 percentage points, while PIL recorded the largest drop, at 10.1 percentage points.

Compared with the same period in 2025, schedule reliability declined for all 13 carriers. Maersk recorded the smallest decrease, at 8.9 percentage points, while PIL posted the largest decline, at 31.1 percentage points.

Notably, 12 of the 13 carriers recorded double-digit year-on-year declines.

Gemini Cooperation records the highest schedule reliability

At the alliance level, Sea-Intelligence data compiled for July and August 2026 showed that Gemini Cooperation had the highest schedule reliability, at 77.8%.

MSC, which operates an independent network, ranked next at 70.1%. Ocean Alliance recorded 48.3%, while Premier Alliance had the lowest reliability among the networks assessed, at 43.2%.
