The Port of New York and New Jersey handles over 725,000 TEUs in July

The Port of New York and New Jersey was the busiest port in the United States in July, handling 725,479 TEUs, the highest since October 2022 and bringing the port's total throughput through July to 4,465,823 TEUs.

The monthly results show a 6.5% decrease compared to July 2022, when the port handled 776,167 TEUs.

Furthermore, in July, import volume totaled 372,139 TEU, down 7.7% over the same period last year, and total import volume from January to July reached 2,269,635 TEU, down 22.2 % compared to the same period in 2022.

As for exports, in July there was an increase of 4.6% over the previous year with 100,195 TEU. From January to July, the Port of New York and New Jersey reported total export volume of 751,527 TEU, down 1.3% year over year.

In addition, rail volume decreased by 10.3% over the same period last year, reaching a total of 55,069 containers. Rail volume decreased by 12.8% from January to July compared to 2022.
