Vietnam's top 10 export markets for timber and wood products in the first 5 months of 2020
In the first 5 months of this year, Vietnam exported USD 4.08 billion of timber and wood products, particularly in May reached USD 771.7 million.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in May, Vietnam's export of wood and wood products reached USD 771.7 million, down 14.5% over the same period last year.
Accumulated 5 months of export reached USD 4.08 billion, up 1.6% over the same period. Particularly, wooden products for export reached USD 2.8 billion, up 0.6% and accounting for over 69% of total export turnover of this group.
Statistics show that exports of wood and wood products in the first 5 months of this year to most markets decreased in turnover over the same period in 2019.
Vietnam's top 10 export markets for wood and wood products in the first 5 months of this year recorded the US as the only market with turnover of over USD billion, accounting for over 49% of the country's total export turnover of this commodity group. with USD 2.01 billion and up 9.5% over the same period.
Followed by Japan with USD 523 million, accounting for 12.8% and decreasing by 0.5%; China increased by 17% to USD 551 million; South Korea fell nearly 1% to USD 345 million; EU decreased 24% to USD 288 million.
Strong export growth in some markets such as Hong Kong increased by 182% to USD 4.82 million; Cambodia increased by 125% to USD 6.4 million; Thailand increased by 40% to USD 19.8 million.
