DP World surpasses 59 million TEU in the first 9 months of 2022

The UAE-based port operator reported 20.1 million TEUs in the third quarter of 2022, representing a growth of 1.5% year-on-year. According to DP World, third-quarter container throughput came mainly from Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, the Americas and Australia, which DP World said its flagship port in Jebel Ali, UAE handled 3.5 million TEUs during this period.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, President and CEO of DP World, commented: “As expected, growth rates have decelerated due to the more challenging market conditions, but global trade continues to remain resilient, and our portfolio is expected to continue to outperform the market."
Looking ahead, "Looking ahead, the near-term outlook remains uncertain given the geopolitical environment, inflationary pressures and currency fluctuations but we remain positive on the medium to long term outlook for global trade. Overall, given the solid nine-month volume performance, we expect to deliver an improved set of full year results."
