OOCL grows strongly in revenue but volume declines in the first half of 2022

 
In the second quarter of 2022, the total revenue of OOCL (Orient Overseas Container Line) increased by 52.4% over the same period in 2021, reaching US$ 5.285 billion.

This is a record result for OOCL, and was achieved amid severe service network congestion, resulting in a 5.6% drop in liftings and a 6.1% drop in loadable capacity. OOCL recorded a 0.5% increase in overall load factor year-on-year in 2021.

According to OOCL's report, the average total revenue per TEU increased by 61.5% over the same period in 2021 due to the sharp increase in freight rates.

For the first six months of the year to June 30, 2022, OOCL's total revenue recorded a growth of 61.0% to reach US$ 10,445 billion, but total output decreased by 7.4% compared to the same period last year.

In the first 6 months of the year, OOCL's load capacity decreased by 6.3% and the overall load factor decreased by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2021. However, average revenue per TEU increased sharply by 74.0% compared to the same period last year due to a sharp increase in freight rates
