Containerized imports totaled 343,689 TEUs in April 2023, down 25% year-on-year. Exports by container reached 88,202 TEU, down 12% year-on-year, while empty container was 256,220 TEU, down 23% compared to 2022.

Port of Los Angeles freight increased 28% in March 2023 compared to February 2023, while the increase was only 10% in April 2023 compared to March 2023.

The port handled 2,525,204 TEUs in the first four months of 2023, down 29% from the same period in 2022. Last year, the first four months of the year recorded the best results in the port's history.

“A cooling global economy, warehouses laden with ageing inventory and prolonged West Coast labour negotiations have all contributed to a slowdown in trade,” said Gene Seroka, chief executive officer of Port of Los Angeles. trade slows down.
