On August 28, 2025, COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited (CSP), a leading global port logistics service provider, announced its results for the first half ended June 30, 2025. Despite a modest global economic recovery and challenges from trade protectionism and regional conflicts, the group still recorded impressive results.
The biggest highlight was the profit attributable to equity holders of the Company, which surged by 30.6% year-over-year to $181.8 million. Revenue also saw strong growth, rising 13.6% to $806 million. This success stems from the company's continuous strengthening of lean operational management and optimization of resource allocation and business processes.
Key Business and Operational Highlights
• Total Throughput: 74,295,971 TEU, up 6.4% YoY.
• Equity Throughput: 22,879,575 TEU, up 3.8% YoY.
• Revenue: $806 million, up 13.6% YoY.
• Gross Profit: $219.1 million, up 10.3% YoY.
• Profit Attributable to Equity Holders: $181.8 million, up 30.6% YoY.
• First Interim Dividend: 1.928 US cents per share.
Strong Growth in Key Markets
In the first half of 2025, total throughput at ports in Greater China increased by 5.7%, accounting for 75.9% of the Group's total. Regions that saw positive growth include the Yangtze River Delta (+4.0%), the Pearl River Delta (+7.0%), and especially the Southwest Coast, with the strongest growth of 10.1%. Notably, CSP Wuhan Terminal recorded a breakthrough growth of 41.6% thanks to an effective integrated water-rail intermodal marketing strategy. Conversely, the Southeast Coast and other regions saw a 5.0% decline due to market conditions affecting cargo demand.
Overseas markets were also a bright spot, with total throughput at these ports increasing by 8.4%, accounting for 24.1% of the group's total. Many ports in Europe capitalized on opportunities from the restructuring of shipping alliances. CSP Zeebrugge Terminal (Belgium) recorded spectacular growth of 45.2%, while Piraeus Terminal (Greece) grew by 4.9% and terminals in Spain increased by 5.9%.
Outlook and Future Strategy
Looking ahead, although international organizations like the World Bank have lowered their global economic growth forecasts, COSCO SHIPPING Ports has set out clear and proactive development strategies.
The company will continue to be customer-centric, ramping up investment in emerging, regional, and third-country markets, while developing extended logistics and supply chain parks near its ports. CSP will strengthen the construction of strategic hub ports such as CSP Wuhan, Piraeus, Abu Dhabi, and Chancay (Peru) to consolidate its competitive advantages.
In addition, green and low-carbon development is a top priority. The company will continue to expand the use of clean energy and actively participate in building a green fuel supply chain. Concurrently, CSP will accelerate the integration of innovative applications like artificial intelligence into port operations to enhance efficiency and transform into a comprehensive logistics service provider.
