Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) announces latest upgrades

The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) has released the final versions of its Booking 2.0 and Bill of Lading 3.0 standards. These upgrades provide shippers and freight forwarders with new features to enhance security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The DCSA standards create a common framework for the container shipping industry, helping to improve interoperability, increase efficiency, and enhance communication among stakeholders.
The upgraded version of the electronic bill of lading (eBL) now includes a digital signature, and adds over 190 attributes to the Shipping Instructions section to support Import Control System 2 (ICS2) – a new advanced cargo declaration requirement for all goods imported or transiting through the EU, Norway, Switzerland and Northern Ireland.
Thomas Bagge, CEO of DCSA, said: “We are thrilled to launch the final versions of our Booking and Bill of Lading standards, ensuring seamless data exchange across all industry participants. These advancements will not only cut costs through automation and reduced manual processing but also set the foundation for a more interoperable and efficient global shipping ecosystem.”
