Top 10 shipping lines by revenue in 2024

The global shipping industry continues to be dominated by the "big guys," with Maersk and CMA CGM leading the way in 2024, each with an impressive revenue of $55.5 billion.

Following closely behind is COSCO with $32.3 billion, cementing its position as one of the world's largest shipping groups.

Hapag-Lloyd and Ocean Network Express (ONE) ranked fourth and fifth with revenue of $20.7 billion and $18.8 billion, respectively, reflecting the steady growth of global trade and container demand.

Evergreen – another major carrier – recorded revenue of $14.1 billion, while ZIM, HMM and Yang Ming posted revenue of $8.4 billion, $8 billion and $6.9 billion, respectively. Wan Hai rounded out the top 10 with revenue of $4.9 billion.

Notably, MSC – one of the world’s largest shipping lines – was not included in the list as it remains a private company and does not disclose financial results.

As the global supply chain continues to face challenges, including geopolitical tensions and volatile freight rates, these shipping lines are constantly adapting to maintain their important role in international trade.
