ZIM and MSC Add JAXPORT to ZCP-Amberjack Service, Strengthening Asia–U.S. East Coast Connectivity

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) have officially added the Port of Jacksonville (JAXPORT) to their ZCP-Amberjack container service. The move strengthens weekly connectivity between Asia and the U.S. East Coast while broadening access to markets across Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean.

The Sapphire recently became the first vessel on the service to call at JAXPORT, marking the official inclusion of Jacksonville in the ZCP-Amberjack network.

Service Rotation and Transit Times

Under the updated schedule, the ZCP-Amberjack service will operate on a weekly rotation calling at:

●    Qingdao, Ningbo, and Shanghai (China)

●    Busan (South Korea)

●    Manzanillo (Panama)

●    Cartagena (Colombia)

●    Charleston, Savannah, and Jacksonville (United States)

●    Kingston (Jamaica)

The service will then return to Busan to begin its next voyage.

Thanks to the optimized routing, transit times from North Asia to Jacksonville have been reduced to approximately 28–32 days.

Expanding International Transshipment Connectivity

Through its two strategic transshipment hubs in Kingston and Cartagena, the ZCP-Amberjack service enables shippers to extend their reach beyond the U.S. East Coast, including destinations along the West Coast of South America.

The network also provides connections to several Latin American markets, including Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Guyana. In the Caribbean, the service has expanded its coverage by adding Aruba, complementing existing destinations such as Curaçao and Panama.

For interregional cargo flows, ZCP-Amberjack also offers efficient onward connections to Italy, Greece, Israel, and Egypt, while further strengthening links with major manufacturing and export hubs in China, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Commenting on the service expansion, Robert Peek, Chief Commercial Officer of JAXPORT, said: "We’re proud to continue building on our longstanding partnership with ZIM and MSC as they expand their service offerings at JAXPORT. This new service provides our customers with reliable connections to key Asian markets and expanded access to international destinations through an established global network."

Supporting Lower-Emission Shipping

A notable feature of the ZCP-Amberjack service is that the entire fleet deployed on the route is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

With LNG bunkering infrastructure already available in Jacksonville, vessels can refuel during their port calls, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting the shipping industry's transition toward more sustainable and lower-emission maritime transport.
