CMA CGM Hikes FAK Rates from the Indian Subcontinent to Latin America, Europe, and North Africa

Ocean carrier CMA CGM has unveiled its updated Freight All Kinds (FAK) rate tariff from the Indian Subcontinent to various global regions.

This move reflects the ongoing upward pricing pressure across international trade lanes.

Below is the detailed breakdown of the new rates, categorized by trade corridors.

1. Central America, the Caribbean, and the West Coast of South America

The new rates targeting destinations in Central America, the Caribbean, and the West Coast of South America will officially take effect on June 10, 2026, calculated based on the container gate-in date at the port of loading.

The carrier stated that this tariff applies to dry and hazardous cargo originating from the Indian Subcontinent. The specific price levels are as follows:

●    Highest-priced destinations: Among the Latin American destinations, La Guaira and Puerto Cabello command the highest pricing. CMA CGM has set rates at $5,150 per 20-foot container and $5,500 per 40-foot container for both ports.

●    Kingston: Follows closely at $4,150 for a 20-foot container and $4,200 for a 40-foot container.

●    Caucedo: Rates are established at $4,050 per 20-foot container and $3,800 per 40-foot container.

●    Manzanillo (Panama): CMA CGM applies a tariff of $3,750 per 20-foot container and $3,650 per 40-foot container.

●    Cartagena: Will see rates at $3,500 for a 20-foot container and $3,350 for a 40-foot container.

●    Buenaventura, San Antonio, Callao, and Guayaquil: Will uniformly apply a flat rate of $3,300 for a 20-foot container and $3,250 for a 40-foot container.

(Surcharge Note: CMA CGM stated that the above rates include the base ocean freight and bunker-related surcharges. The carrier further noted that terminal handling charges (THC), Peak Season Surcharges (PSS), security-related charges, and local fees remain excluded from these prices.)

2. Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and North Africa

In a separate advisory, CMA CGM also introduced new FAK rates from the Indian Subcontinent to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. This tariff will be effective from June 15, 2026, and will remain valid until further notice.

The scope of application is strictly for dry cargo originating from Northwest India, Southeast India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. The rates are structured as follows:

●    North Africa: Records the highest pricing within this corridor group, touching $5,500, applied equally to both 20-foot and 40-foot containers.

●    Northern Europe: The carrier has set the rate at $4,500 for both 20-foot and 40-foot containers.

●    The Mediterranean: Trade lanes to this region will similarly apply a uniform rate of $4,500 for both container sizes.

(Surcharge Note: CMA CGM stipulates that these prices include ocean freight and bunker surcharges, but exclude terminal handling charges (THC) and security-related fees.)
