Hapag-Lloyd Discontinues CCM Service Connecting Mexico and Central America from July 2026
.webp)
The adjustment reflects a broader trend among container shipping lines to restructure service networks in order to improve operational efficiency and better align capacity with evolving market demand.
CCM Service to Be Officially Terminated in July 2026
The CCM service currently connects three key ports: Lázaro Cárdenas in Mexico, Acajutla in El Salvador, and Corinto in Nicaragua.
According to Hapag-Lloyd, the final voyage of the service will be operated by the MV Chiapas under voyage number 686877.
The vessel is scheduled to depart from the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas on July 7, 2026, marking the end of the CCM service after several years of serving regional trade flows.
Connectivity to Nicaragua and El Salvador Will Be Maintained
Despite the discontinuation of the CCM service, Hapag-Lloyd stated that alternative transport solutions will remain in place to ensure continued connectivity for customers throughout Central America.
Cargo destined for Corinto, Nicaragua, will continue to be served through the carrier’s existing CCE service.
Meanwhile, shipments bound for El Salvador will be routed via Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, before being transported to their final destinations in El Salvador through regional feeder and inland connections.
According to Hapag-Lloyd, this alternative network arrangement will help maintain supply chain continuity while minimizing disruption for customers operating within the region’s trade lanes.
Carriers Continue Network Restructuring Across Latin America
The decision to withdraw the CCM service reflects the broader network optimization trend currently underway across the global container shipping industry.
As market demand remains dynamic and carriers place greater emphasis on maximizing fleet utilization and operational efficiency, many regional services are being reviewed, consolidated, or restructured to improve network performance.
In Latin America, major shipping lines continue to refine their service coverage and strengthen connectivity through existing networks, allowing them to maintain customer service levels while optimizing operating costs and vessel deployment.
The latest adjustment by Hapag-Lloyd highlights the industry's ongoing focus on building more efficient and flexible service networks capable of adapting to changing trade patterns and market conditions.
