Transportation and logistics group CMA CGM has announced a €100 million (US$110 million) investment in partnership with French technology company Mistral AI to deploy customised artificial intelligence solutions for shipping, logistics and media operations over the next five years.
Under the agreement, a dedicated team of Mistral AI experts will be based at CMA CGM's headquarters in Marseille and at Grand Central, the headquarters of CMA Media.
For the transport and logistics sectors, the focus of the partnership is on optimizing and personalizing the customer experience through solutions such as claims automation, smart e-commerce tools, and advanced document management systems. CMA CGM and Mistral AI affirm their commitment to accelerating the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) across the entire group ecosystem. This investment is part of CMA CGM’s broader strategy, with the group committing €500 million to AI. CMA CGM has previously established a number of notable strategic partnerships, including Google and Perplexity, as well as invested in technology companies such as PoolSide and Dataiku. The launch of the non-profit research lab Kyutai in 2023 – co-founded by CMA CGM Chairman Rodolphe Saadé – further demonstrates the group’s strong determination to pioneer the development of artificial intelligence in the industry.
