COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Begins A-Share Listing Process in Shanghai

COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has started the preparatory procedures for a planned A-share listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, marking the first step in the company’s move toward the capital markets.

Listing Process Underway with Two Advisory Firms

According to information from China’s securities regulator, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry registered for listing guidance on 12 September 2026. The two firms appointed to advise on the process are China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and China Merchants Securities.

Headquartered in Shanghai and wholly owned by COSCO, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry completed its conversion into a joint-stock company in June 2026, as part of preparations for the planned listing.

The company currently has registered capital of approximately CNY 3.6 billion, equivalent to USD 505 million.

Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Operations

COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry currently operates nine large and medium-sized shipyards. These facilities undertake a wide range of activities, including newbuilding, ship repair and conversion, offshore engineering projects, and marine equipment manufacturing.

The scale of the company’s operations is reflected in its orderbook. As of the end of 2025, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry had 216 vessels in its orderbook, with a combined deadweight tonnage (DWT) of approximately 24.77 million tonnes.

Of these, 76 vessels were under construction at the company’s facilities.

In addition to newbuilding, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has the capacity to repair and convert more than 1,500 vessels annually.

The company is also involved in FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) conversion projects, a segment that requires advanced technical capabilities and the ability to execute large-scale projects.
