MSC Launches Ochna Service to Strengthen Direct China–Vietnam Connectivity

To capture the strong growth momentum of intra-Asia trade, MSC recently announced the introduction of its new standalone service, Ochna. The service is designed to enhance direct connections and shorten transit times between major ports in China and Vietnam.
Service Rotation and Deployment Plan
According to MSC, the Ochna service will officially commence operations on June 19, 2026, with the inaugural call at Dalian Port.
The maiden voyage will be operated by the vessel MSC Hailey Ann II under voyage number HQ625A. The service will run on a fixed port rotation connecting major manufacturing and consumption hubs across the region, including:
Dalian – Tianjin Xingang – Qingdao – Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh City – Dalian.
Strengthening Intra-Asia Connectivity
According to MSC, the Ochna service has been developed to better support businesses managing supply chains between China and Vietnam — currently considered one of the fastest-growing trade corridors in Asia.
The addition of this new service not only expands MSC’s intra-Asia shipping network but also reflects the carrier’s strategy to strengthen short-sea shipping services focused on optimizing transit times, improving schedule reliability, and enhancing regional connectivity efficiency.
As manufacturing shifts and intra-Asia trade activities continue to accelerate, direct services such as Ochna are expected to provide importers and exporters with greater flexibility in transportation planning and supply chain management.
