OOCL receives new mega container vessel with 24,188 TEU capacity
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has just expanded its fleet capacity by putting into operation the OOCL Felixstowe container ship, with a capacity of 24,188 TEUs, built at Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) shipyard, associated with joint venture between COSCO and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

The new vessel is the fourth eco-friendly 24,188 TEU vessel to be received by OOCL in a series of 12 vessels, and will be commissioned on the Eurasian shipping route LL3 along with three other vessels of the same size (the ships OOCL Spain, OOCL Piraeus and OOCL Turkiye).
OOCL is a shipping line with headquarters owned by COSCO. The 24,188 TEU vessel is currently the second largest container ship in the world, the largest container ship in the world (MSC Irina) with a capacity of 24,346 TEU.
The voyage of the OOCL Felixstowe will pass through the ports of Shanghai (China) - Xiamen (China) - Nansha (China) - Hong Kong (China) - Yantian (China) - Cai Mep (Vietnam) – Singapore - Piraeus (Greece) - Hamburg (Germany) - Rotterdam (Netherlands) - Zeebrugge (Belgium) - Valencia (Spain) - Piraeus (Greece) - Abu Dhabi (UAE) - Singapore - Shanghai (China).
At the naming ceremony, Mr. Yang Zhijian, CEO of OOCL, said: "We ordered this series of ultra large container vessels not only to provide better services to our customers but also to enhance our cost competitiveness and to seize the initiative for future development."
