Evergreen opens a new direct service connects Korea-Vietnam
Evergreen shipping line provides direct service connecting Korea and Vietnam for the first time. The new service is called KCV (Korea-China-Vietnam) starting mid-April.
Taiwan's Evergreen shipping line is targeting cargo volume growth in the Vietnamese market by deploying three more container ships for the KCV service, each with a capacity of between 1,600TEU and 1,800TEU.
The itinerary for KCV service will be Busan, Ulsan, Shanghai (Shanghai), Ningbo (Ningbo), Hong Kong (Hong Kong), Shekou, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Taichung (Taichung), Taipei (Taipei), Hakata and Busan.
The KCV launch ceremony will take place on April 15 when Evergreen's chartered vessel - Green Clarity (1,800TEU) - departs from Danang. On April 17, the 1,600TEU owned by Evergreen, Uni-Promote will leave Busan; The ship will be joined by a subsidiary of the airline - Uni-Premier.
Previously, Evergreen shipped Korean exports to Vietnam by transshipment from its one port in Kaohsiung (Kaohsiung).
The company also developed and provided a connection service to Vietnam in February through a slot purchase contract on Sealand's IA-88 service. Service IA-88 calls at ports: Osaka-Kobe-Yokohama-Nagoya-Qingdao-Shanghai-Ho Chi Minh City. This allows Evergreen to provide a connection service between Japan and southern Vietnam.
Vietnam continues to generate more containerized exports, leading some carriers to expand their connectivity services in Southeast Asia. Production between East Asia and Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, increased after US-China trade tensions prompted manufacturers to shift some production activities from China to Vietnam.
