CMA CGM Announces Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) and Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) Revisions

CMA CGM has introduced a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) and revised its Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) on selected international shipping routes. The updated surcharges will become effective between mid-July and early August 2026, depending on the applicable trade lane.

PSS Introduced for Out-of-Gauge Cargo from the Mediterranean

Effective 1 August 2026, CMA CGM will apply a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) to Out-of-Gauge (OOG) cargo shipped from the Mediterranean to the Middle East Gulf and Red Sea regions.

The surcharge will be applied as follows:

●    Cargo originating from the Adriatic, Eastern Mediterranean, and Black Sea: USD 1,500 per unit.

●    Cargo originating from the Western Mediterranean and North Africa: USD 500 per unit.

PSS Revised for China–East Africa Trade

CMA CGM has also announced revised PSS levels for shipments from China to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Mombasa, Kenya.

For shipments from North and Central China to Dar es Salaam, a surcharge of USD 400 per TEU will apply effective 20 July 2026.

For shipments from South China to Dar es Salaam, the surcharge will be:

●    USD 600 per TEU effective 15 July 2026.

●    Reduced to USD 350 per TEU effective 1 August 2026.

For shipments from North and Central China to Mombasa, CMA CGM will apply a surcharge of USD 600 per TEU effective 20 July 2026.

Meanwhile, shipments from South China to Mombasa will also be subject to a surcharge of USD 600 per TEU, effective 1 August 2026.

BAF Revised for France–Tunisia South RoRo Service

In addition to the PSS updates, CMA CGM SSL Intra Europe has announced a revised Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) for its France–Tunisia South RoRo service, effective 1 August 2026.

The revised BAF rates are as follows:

●    Full rolling units: EUR 623 per unit

●    Empty rolling units: EUR 412 per unit

●    Other rolling equipment: EUR 70 per lane metre

●    Passenger cars and light commercial vehicles: EUR 238 per unit

●    Breakbulk cargo: EUR 39 per cubic metre (m³)

The latest PSS and BAF adjustments reflect CMA CGM's ongoing efforts to respond to rising operating costs and evolving market conditions while maintaining the efficiency and reliability of its global shipping network.
