Maersk raises full-year 2024 profit forecast
AP Moller - Maersk said that based on preliminary figures, its profit in Q2 2024 was $756 million in underlying EBIT.
The Danish shipping company said its unaudited revenue in Q2 2024 was $12.8 billion, with underlying EBITDA of $2.1 million and EBIT of $765 million.
Maersk also announced that it had raised its full-year profit forecast, "Due to the continued supply chain disruption caused by the situation in the Red Sea, which is now expected to continue at least until the end of 2024, coupled with robust container market demand."
The full-year 2024 underlying EBITDA forecast has been raised to $9-$11 billion, up from $7-$9 billion previously, and EBIT is now expected to be $3-$5 billion, up from $1-$3 billion previously.
Reflecting the increased demand, the full-year container volume forecast has been revised up to 4-6%, up from 2.5-4.5% previously.
However, the company warned that trading conditions remain subject to higher than normal volatility, “given the unpredictability of the Red Sea situation and the lack of clarity of supply and demand in Q4.”
