Maersk studies possibility of acquiring DB Schenker
Shipping company Maersk has hired a consultant to research the possibility of taking over the leading logistics brand from Germany - DB Schenker - after DHL group withdrew from this deal.
Last week, after DHL Group withdrew from the battle to acquire DB Schenker, one of the largest acquisitions in the global logistics industry, shipping company Maersk hired a consultant to study the possibility of taking over the leading logistics brand from Germany.
According to Danish financial daily Børsen, the world's second largest container shipping company is studying the purchase of DB Schenker, the logistics brand currently being sold by parent company Deutsche Bahn.
Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc told the newspaper that the company is taking a "very cautious approach" to the acquisition of DB Schenker.
Analysts at Sydbank, suggest another Danish name in logistics, DSV, remains the favourite to take over the German transport group.
DB Schenker is valued at 15 billion EUR (16.4 billion USD). This prestigious corporation currently has a workforce of about 72,000 people around the world.
