ZIM surpasses Yang Ming on global container shipping line rankings
ZIM increased its total capacity to 714,800 TEU last April 3, helping the Israeli carrier surpass Yang Ming to rank 9th in the global carrier rankings.

Israeli shipping line ZIM took delivery of the 15,248 TEU container ship ZIM Mount Vinson on April 3, the last in a series of 10 ships of the same size built by Samsung H.I. for Seaspan.
ZIM has chartered these 10 container ships for 12 years, increasing the total operating capacity to 714,800 TEU, lifting the Haifa-based container carrier past Yang Ming to 9th place in the global carrier rankings.

ZIM has more than doubled in size since 2020, growing 155% over the past four years, according to Linerlytica, noting that its operated fleet is expected to be further enhanced with an additional 19 new vessels expected before the end of 2024.
On the other hand, Yang Ming - the major ocean shipping company of Taiwan, China - was the 8th largest operator in 2020, but this shipping line has now been surpassed by HMM and ZIM.
