Ukraine's Port Authority announced that the 38,894 dwt Banglar Samriddih, anchored in the port of Olvia, was hit by a missile from the Russian Navy at 5:25 p.m. local time on the day 2/3.
The port authority said in a Facebook post that two tugs had been sent to rescue the crew and that preliminary reports indicated that none of the 29 crew members were injured. The ship arrived at port on 23 February and was awaiting loading.
A video posted on Twitter shows what was reported to the ship after the missile attack with flames in the bridge and housing area and smoke billowing from the ship.
The ship built in 2018 is owned and managed by Bangladesh Shipping Corp.
According to security analysis firm Dryad Global, this is the fourth commercial ship to have been hit with a missile since Russia attacked Ukraine, including the Yasa Jupiter on February 24, and the Namura Queen and Millennial Spirit on February 25th.
Two Ukrainian-flagged cargo ships, the Afina and the Princess Nicole, were seized by the Russian Navy over the weekend.
